Blog: Young gymnast all smiles after receiving her medals at a gymnastics meet

Happy Monday!

It is time to get this blog restarted!

Wow! This blog has been quiet for too long. I cannot believe it has been a couple years since I blogged last. Yikes!

Well, in 2023 I am bringing the blog back. My hope is to blog on Mondays and Wednesdays. So be sure to come back and see what’s new each week. Here you will find posts about my photography, pieces of my life, motivations, and other tidbits as I am inspired.

Since it is time to get back to it, I can’t think of a better way to start then with a proud moment with my girl. ?

Our girl

If you follow me on instagram, you know that our girl was at a gymnastics meet this past weekend. We are so proud of all the hard work she’s put in and it paid off. She scored higher in all her events than she did on her last competition. And the first competition where she was competing against girls from 4 other gyms. She was in the top 10 in all categories, she came home with 4 medals (including 6th in All Around for level 2s), and was absolutely over the moon. ?

When I think back to when she first started a year and a half ago, it blows me away with how far she has come. She used to be so afraid to be up high, especially on the beam. Her coaches are amazing at coaching her through when she struggles. Our house may be starting to look like a gym. Complete with a bar, mats, and a 8ft beam. I love her spirit, determination, and ?that everyday she practices and works hard to get better. And now she rocks it!!

As an adult it is hard to start something new for fear of not being good enough. Watching my girl reminded me that hard work always pays off. Now to remember that when I am ready to throw in the towel. Now to get to it and move forward!

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Ann

My path here wasn't exactly straight, and I think that's what makes it worth telling.

I wasn't supposed to be a photographer. I was supposed to become a doctor. Neurobiology premed, on track, until my oldest son was diagnosed with epilepsy and life took a hard U-turn. I took a break and enrolled in photography classes I had always wanted to take but never could as a premed. On day two I knew. This was where I was supposed to be. Funny thing is, that analytical, detail-oriented part of me never left. It just shows up differently now, in the way I plan every session, read the light, and pay attention to the moments most people miss. I finished my degree in a year and a half, started my business the following October, and sixteen years later I still believe this is the gift God gave me to give to others. And I don't take that lightly.
