“Love – a wildly misunderstood although highly desirable malfunction of the heart which weakens the brain, causes eyes to sparkle, cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker.”

~ Author Unknown

I just love this quote!  I wish the author was known. When reading it I knew it would be perfect for this post.  A few months ago I had the amazing pleasure of capturing Yeudy surprise proposal to Kylee.  Yep that is right surprise proposal!!!  It was so much fun!  All of it from helping find a location, assisting in the hiding process, being a super stealth ninja photographer, and capturing young love at the beginning of their new journey, it was a wonderful rush!  I hope to capture more surprise proposals in the future.  😉

On a very warm (ok hot!) day in June Yeudy found the perfect spot, which happened to be the Gardens on El Paseo, to ask Kylee to be his wife.  The fun part was Kylee was to find the “ring” via Geocaching.  In case you don’t know what that is, it is a treasure hunting game using GPS coordinates to hide and seek containers with other people participating in it.  You would be surprised how many hiding spots there are out there.  So Yeudy found a spot, hide his container with a ring pop (the real one was in his pocket) in it, grabbed the coordinates, and sent Kylee on an adventure. 🙂

El Paseo Gardens Surprise Proposal

When the time came, with me hiding in Saks Fifth Ave, behind bushes, and ducking behind planters, Yeudy took Kylee on a very special treasure hunt.  <3

The very next day we headed up to Idyllwild for their engagement session.  A venue I had yet to visit in the 3 years of being in So Cal.  Talk about beautiful!  These two were such a blast to photograph.  We laughed and laughed.  And when we thought we couldn’t laugh anymore we did!!  Hey Yeudy…here is the RING!! 🙂

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Ann

My path here wasn't exactly straight, and I think that's what makes it worth telling.

I wasn't supposed to be a photographer. I was supposed to become a doctor. Neurobiology premed, on track, until my oldest son was diagnosed with epilepsy and life took a hard U-turn. I took a break and enrolled in photography classes I had always wanted to take but never could as a premed. On day two I knew. This was where I was supposed to be. Funny thing is, that analytical, detail-oriented part of me never left. It just shows up differently now, in the way I plan every session, read the light, and pay attention to the moments most people miss. I finished my degree in a year and a half, started my business the following October, and sixteen years later I still believe this is the gift God gave me to give to others. And I don't take that lightly.
