Day 2 of the blog challenge and I almost missed it.  Phew!  So glad I noticed the time and did not go to bed yet.  Today is 9 things about myself.  It sounds easy enough.  Well…let’s see.

Here it is my 9 things!

1:  I am a wife (14 years) and mother of 3 boys.  My boys are almost 3, 9, and almost 13 years old.

2:  I am a Christian.

3:  I love photographing with b&w FILM!  Yep that’s right film. 🙂  My holga is one of my favorite toys!

4:  Working in the darkroom (aka the kids bathroom after everyone is in bed) is one thing that feeds my soul.  Something about the smell of fixer. 🙂

5:  I am wrapping up our 1st school year of homeschooling my middle son.  It has been an adventure.

6:  I love dragonflies.  They are my symbol of strength after miscarrying my baby 3 years ago.  I believe that when I come across a dragonfly (real or symbol) it is at times that I need strength, hope, or just to know that my baby is watching over us.

7:  I love drinking light ice, light sweetener, iced green tea and eating ice cream!!  Yummy!!  Oh but not at the same time.  Lol!

8:  I have Neurocardiac Syncope and a PFO, so I never wait very long in Urgent Care or an ER when I am ill.  🙂

9:  My favorites iPhone apps are instagram (@annkeenphoto), Dermandar, HeyTell, and Draw Something (AnnKeenPhoto).

It turns out that wasn’t so bad. 🙂  In fact I had a hard time stopping at 9.  So here is a bonus…I love love love to cook.  I love making lots of food and having people over to fill their bellies.  If you would like to learn more about me check out my website for tons more of the things I love and who I am.  http://annkeen.wpengine.com/#/loves/.

xoxo,

Ann

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Ann

My path here wasn't exactly straight, and I think that's what makes it worth telling.

I wasn't supposed to be a photographer. I was supposed to become a doctor. Neurobiology premed, on track, until my oldest son was diagnosed with epilepsy and life took a hard U-turn. I took a break and enrolled in photography classes I had always wanted to take but never could as a premed. On day two I knew. This was where I was supposed to be. Funny thing is, that analytical, detail-oriented part of me never left. It just shows up differently now, in the way I plan every session, read the light, and pay attention to the moments most people miss. I finished my degree in a year and a half, started my business the following October, and sixteen years later I still believe this is the gift God gave me to give to others. And I don't take that lightly.
