Baby Silo 7 days young ~ Palm Desert Newborn Photographer

I just can’t get enough of newborn cuteness and how very special they are.  I just love that they have so much hair on their bodies that disappears before our eyes, peeling skin, and sweet noises.  It just makes me want tons of babies.  I know my hubby just loves that.  😉  Seriously who can […]

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day ~ Palm Desert Photographer

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. A day to remember all babies who became angels too soon. Miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, and infant loss are all topics most people do not want to talk about. Too many families grieve in silence, and sometimes they never come to terms with their loss. For those […]

My 35th Birthday ~ Palm Desert Photographer

What is an age? Is it really just a number? Does it give you instant maturity? Does it really mean anything? For me it doesn’t mean anything but a number. Today I turned 35. Otherwise known as halfway to 70. 🙂 I must say so far 35 has been great! I have a good feeling […]

World Photography Day! ~ Palm Desert Photographer

Happy World Photography Day!! World Photography Day is a day for photographers of all types to celebrate photography.  To celebrate how it began to where it is today.  In 1839, Louis Daguerre invented the Daguerreotype.  The Daguerreotype process involved exposing silver iodine vapor, exposing it  to light, then exposing it to mercury fumes to the copper plate after the […]

La Sierra Graduate Ashley McMackin ~ Riverside Senior Photographer

From the time they are born, parents hope they don’t grow too fast.  Then the day comes for them to go to kindergarten and some of us cry for this 1st big step.  The next thing you know your child is in middle school.  Only to blink and they are a senior in high school. […]

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Ann

My path here wasn't exactly straight, and I think that's what makes it worth telling.

I wasn't supposed to be a photographer. I was supposed to become a doctor. Neurobiology premed, on track, until my oldest son was diagnosed with epilepsy and life took a hard U-turn. I took a break and enrolled in photography classes I had always wanted to take but never could as a premed. On day two I knew. This was where I was supposed to be. Funny thing is, that analytical, detail-oriented part of me never left. It just shows up differently now, in the way I plan every session, read the light, and pay attention to the moments most people miss. I finished my degree in a year and a half, started my business the following October, and sixteen years later I still believe this is the gift God gave me to give to others. And I don't take that lightly.
