Congratulations Ivan!

It was so much fun photographing Ivan’s senior portraits. I actually photographed Ivan and his family back in 2016. It is such an honor to have families come back to me over the years.

Senior portraits mean different things to everyone. The girls tend to love them and the guys tend to do them for mom. Whatever your reasoning for having them done, they tell the story of your journey, your dreams, and the extraordinary individual you are. Down the road, 5, 10, 20 years, you will look back and remember all you went through and all you accomplished.

Personalise your session

This session is definitely a favorite of this year. Ivan and his mom had a specific vision and once I located the PERFECT location it all fell into place. This was the first senior session I have done with a dirt bike and I loved it. I definitely got my steps in on this one.

By incorporating the things the senior loves, it really let’s them shine. Their comfort level increases and I get to capture who they are and what they are all about. It is their story and I am just there to document it.

I used to wonder what it would be like to photograph someone when they were little and have them come back when they are graduating. Well, Ivan is my first. And it is pretty cool.

If you are a high schooler reading this, always remember to embrace the challenges, chase your dreams, and never forget the resilience and strength you’ve developed throughout your journey.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT Ann

My path here wasn't exactly straight, and I think that's what makes it worth telling.

I wasn't supposed to be a photographer. I was supposed to become a doctor. Neurobiology premed, on track, until my oldest son was diagnosed with epilepsy and life took a hard U-turn. I took a break and enrolled in photography classes I had always wanted to take but never could as a premed. On day two I knew. This was where I was supposed to be. Funny thing is, that analytical, detail-oriented part of me never left. It just shows up differently now, in the way I plan every session, read the light, and pay attention to the moments most people miss. I finished my degree in a year and a half, started my business the following October, and sixteen years later I still believe this is the gift God gave me to give to others. And I don't take that lightly.
