Mon, 09 Apr 2012 06:01:30 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 Smith-Nitzsche Family ~ Palm Springs Family Photographer http://annkeenphotography.com/blog/2012/04/smith_nitzsche/ http://annkeenphotography.com/blog/2012/04/smith_nitzsche/#comments Mon, 09 Apr 2012 06:01:30 +0000 Ann Keen http://annkeenphotography.com/blog/?p=1000 Being new to the desert I never would have thought I would find a place so close to home that would feel a little more woodsy.  But when I got the inquiry from Bethan and we talked about the Whitewater Preserve I was super excited for what was in store.  Prior to our session I drove out to take a peek.  I found that I no longer felt like I was in the desert.  It was heaven!  Don’t get me wrong, the desert has its good points but I really miss the foothills.  So it is really nice to have a spot that is about 30 minutes away that feels a little like being in the foothills again.

Our session day arrived and this family rocked it!! No complaining out of any of the boys, which with boys and dads it is bound to happen at least once.  Sometimes I think it is in their genes.  lol! :)  But not with this family.  They were amazing!  We got so many awesome shots and had a blast doing it.  Even the baby, Lennox, was giving us some crazy funny faces up through the end.

Such a fun session and I will definitely be using that location again! :)

Ok so on to the post…

This handsome, sweet little man holds a very special place in my heart.  See his mom and I grew up together.  In fact, I remember when his mommy was born. :)  We spent many Easter egg hunts, advent dinners, family dinners, play dates, etc together.  The day I got the invitation to her wedding I could not believe all the time that had passed.  His parents had the most beautiful wedding!  Then a few months later the news of a little bundle.  That had to be the most exciting news I had heard in a long time.

The morning of Dominic’s session, my drive from Palm Desert to Mira Loma seemed to take forever.  Thankfully it was not because of traffic.  It was due to my excitement of meeting this handsome boy.  Oh and to see his parents too. ;)  Dominic was such a trooper through the whole session.  We had a fabulous time and the only blanket he managed to “get” was his own. :)  That never happens!

I sure wish we lived closer so little Dominic could grow up with my boys.  And we of course the grown-ups could hang out too. ;)

Oh, and did I mention how much I love him?! I mean look at this little face…how could you not! ..::swoon::..

This was such a fun session and the best way to start out 2012.  Little Jack was hilarious!  Between flirting with my assistant, Emily, finding his hand, taking a little snooze and giving his mommy a huge smooch, we had a blast.  We played on the bed in the hotel room, then went outside for some fresh air and photos with grandma and grandpa.  This session was eventful and absolutely perfect.

Ok…so let’s get on to the portraits.

The official launch date is Thursday!!  Yes this Thursday, 3-8-12.  I am extremely excited!  Thursday is going to be a busy day.  There is the launch, mentoring, and photographing the Monkey in the Middle Consignment Event here in the desert.  What is Monkey in the Middle you ask??  It is a great event with lots of great buys of gently used items from maternity to preteens.  It is such a great way to stock up on clothes for your little ones.  Last October I had the privilege to photograph the event and again this time. So in honor of my launch, I will be putting 25 exclusive portrait sessions into the bags they hand out during the event.  They give the 1st 250 paying shoppers bags with family friendly businesses in the area which includes coupons and specials for some of those businesses.  This year 25 of the 250 will have an exclusive portrait session with me in them. So make sure you stop by the Monkey in the Middle Consignment Event March 8-11 at 44250 Town Center Way, Palm Desert.  My fingers are crossed that you are one of the luck few to get this exclusive session.  While you are there, don’t forget to come say hello.  I will be the one with the big black camera up to my face. :)
